stupid things women say

It’s been a good week for stupidity:

Lindsay Lohan: Spoiled Hollywood actress/socialite. Convicted of DUI and sentenced to 90 days in jail and 180 days of rehab. (She will probablly spend a fraction of the 90 days in jail.)

Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani: 43 year old mother of two. Convicted of adultery in Iran (although she was sentenced to die under a rule that allows judges  to convict without evidence called “judge’s knowledge”). She was sentenced to die by stoning (but because of humanitarian outcry, this week she will not be stoned, yet). She already has received 99 lashed for her alleged crime of adultery.

Lohan Tweeted: “No one shall be subjected to torture or cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.” This was in response to HER “inhuman” sentence…not Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani’s!

Here’s one from Washington’s finest:

Sharon Angle: Republican Senate Candidate. Guest on the Alan Stock Show. Answering the question, “What do you say to a young girl…is raped by her father, let’s say, and is pregnant. How do you explain this to her in terms of wanting her to go through the process of having a baby?”

Angle goes on to say that “two wrongs don’t make a right,” and “…they (the pregnant incest victims) found that they had made what was really a lemon situation into lemonade.”

So, let me get this straight. Little girls, raped by their father, carrying their father’s baby should make lemons into lemonade? This isn’t a Leave it to Beaver Show! What’s next? Will Angle tell hate crime victims to stop crying over spilled milk? Or maybe, battered women should stop making mountains out of mole-hills? Look on the bright side, if Shelia Angle does manage to get a Senate seat she can teach us all to turn that frown upside-down.

It was a shameful week for women.
