Damn you Pinterest!

Damn you Pinterest for making me a digital hoarder of:

  • Clever organization ideas  for my cupboards and closets that I am too lazy to implement;
  • Ridiculously handy home projects that I am not handy enough to complete;
  • Yummy treats that I can never eat because I am on a never-ending diet;
  • Places that I can only dream of traveling too;
  • DIY projects that make me wish I had the space to build a gazebo…all by myself;
  • Just plain colorful things, for no reason at all, found on the web;
  • Awesome crafting projects that I don’t have the energy to try…

If I don’t vacuum the floor today, maybe I can find the energy for one craft…

A trip to Hobby Lobby and Archiver’s, and a mere four hours later we made this:

butterfly punch us flag

US Flag made from a lot of butterflies.

Tell me this isn’t A-W-E-S-O-M-E!

Project measures about 18″ x 16″

New Typographic Phone Cases in the Shop

School will be out next week. I am so excited for it all to be over. I am so sick of making school lunches in the morning!

Hop scotch

Hop scotch to 100!

I was just thinking that it’s been 1 year and 1 month since I left my job as a graphic designer at the printing company. Hard to believe it’s been that long. So much has happened in that time. Last summer was so relaxing and Alexandra said it was “the best summer she ever had.” 😉 That’s some pressure for this summer.

I have been busy adding new designs to the SHOP this week. It’s a lot of work, but fun at the same time. I am pretty excited to share these designs with you. I have had a love for typography since my days working at a type house. A type house is where designers got their typesetting before everyone owned a Mac. You know, in the old days…

iPhone Cases

These designs are also available on t-shirts, hoodies and in prints (framed or unframed).

What are you going to do when you grow up?

I was asked (again) last week, “What do you want to do when you ‘grow up’?” Now that is a loaded question.

Since I left the printing industry in May to stay home with the kids, I have asked myself that same question. I want to do something involving photography…but what exactly? I haven’t nailed that down yet. I know better what I don’t want to do. I don’t want to be a wedding or portrait photographer.

Nature, landscape, insect photography is what my heart wants. Okay, so I do know what I want, but now what?

I have been researching, and taking workshops and classes hoping (praying) it would come to me, like in a vision or a light bulb being turned on.

Enter Redbubble. Have you heard of it?

Redbubble is quite simply the finest and most diverse creative community and marketplace on the interlink. There, we said it. With artists and designers hailing from every corner of the globe, displaying eye opening talent, skill, passion and enthusiasm for all forms of creativity there really is no better place for you to get your artistic kicks.”

So, here I am on Rebubble, diving in head first!

Redbubble offers all sorts of products including note cards, matted prints, just prints, framed prints, canvas, posters, calendars, t-shirts, iPhone & iPad cases, and stickers from highly talented photographers, illustrators and digital artists.

Of course, I can’t deny my graphic designer instincts. I designed these t-shirt and hoodies with 2 of my favorite Bible verses. Each will be available in 4 different contemporary colors.

Or, how about an iPhone case? Yep, I have designed those too!

So, you know, if you need to do some holiday shopping…head on over and check it out. Let me know what you think too! I will be adding more photos soon.

colorado home and garden show adventure

The Colorado Home and Garden Show was held in downtown Denver this last week. I willingly chose to take the girls with me. Downtown. I said it would be an adventure. It was an adventure in patience. We parked at Coors Field and rode the shuttle bus to the Convention Center. I have always loved downtown Denver. If I didn’t have kids I would live in one of those trendy loft apartments converted from a warehouse. {sigh.} Anyway, below are lots of inspiration to get your backyard in shape.

celebrating 50 years

My husband is turning the big 5-0 in 3 weeks. When did it happen that I will be married to a 50 year old? We met when I was 19 and he was 30. Ouch. That makes me (and him) sound even older! I am working on planning his party. He has gone from not wanting to do anything for his birthday, to letting me invite “a few” people, to not having a party at all again. To say he is having a hard time with this birthday is an understatement. I can relate. I turned 40 last year. Not fun. But, as they say, “Any day above ground is a good day.” Right?
